Keith, I think that these are the kind of legs that we should use to truly do justice to the 800 year old sinker cypress. 
These legs have classic design and shape and are VERY strong.

The toe is forged from 1" solid into a 
"snub end" as in a snub end scroll.

A tennon is cut into the piece to fit 
into the tapered angle leg.

The tennon goes 1" into the overlap
making a smooth transition from the
angle to the toe piece.
The back will have a piece of sheet metal
fitted and welded solid

The two pieces are welded front,
back, top and bottom.
